Do your bit

Its time to shed our collective complacency, its time now to nose dive in to the thickness of action at the ground level, its high time that we the lay men thought of the land we live on, our resources our cultural practices, our ways of living that harm nature and threatens its very existence. Its time for us to act.

Lets now not talk of our glorious past, lets only open our eyes clearly to see what we, Indians have done to this wonderful land, blessed as it is with such abundance of beauty and resources. Lets you and me exert our individual will to say not when needed to the greed of economy.

Surely, you will counter me with the question "what should I do"?

Well! then

.Would you be kind enough to carry your own bag every time you go out to shop?

.Would you be able to restrain yourself from shouting at the shopkeeper or the poor thela wala asking for the polythene bag as if its your birth right?

. Would be thoughtful enough as not to throw the garbage striaght out of your apartment window?

. Would you patiently sort out the garbage into plastics and bio-degradable before handing it over to the garbage collecter?

. Would the young ladies mind not throwing used sanitary napkins on to the roads?

.Would you just pause a little before you empty your bladder or stain the wall next door with pan spits?

Well ! the list is endless. If we Indians are keen to live in a respectable manner in this country , we should exercise some discipline and restrain ourselves from doing certain things which are clearly against our common interest.
